  • Delivery Basics

We deliver Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm and aim to get your purchases to you as soon as possible.

Once your order has been placed, we'll email you to confirm the day of your delivery.

We are able to confirm delivery dates for couriered services. Some couriers will contact you directly with delivery timings.

If you need your order to be delivered faster than our standard delivery service then please contact our customer services team for delivery costs to your area. This service is available for some of our products.

    Where we deliver

If your delivery address is in these postcodes or areas, please call us on 01529 308839 for a quote: AB, PR, PL, HS, KW, IV, Northern Ireland, Scottish Islands, Channel Islands, Isles of Scilly, Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man. Our couriers can get purchases to most areas within the UK, but if you do live in a more remote part of the country, check with us before ordering. We will always try our best to get an order to you but sometimes it is just not possible.

    Can we deliver to you?

See below for extra tips on how to ensure a successful delivery

    Signing for your goods

Please make sure you are at the delivery address to receive and sign for the goods, or have someone else to do so on your behalf. If you’re not going to be in, the driver will leave the goods without signature, if you give us written permission by email. You are responsible for any loss or damage from that point on.

Make sure you check for damage

Check your delivered order as best you can when it arrives (or collection in the case of Click & Collect Orders). If you find any damage or defect, write this down on the delivery note before signing it (or tell the trader you are collecting goods from). Although the delivery driver should pass this information to us, please get in touch and take photographs as evidence as proof that the damage or defect was not caused by you or anyone else after delivery/collection. Contact us within 48 hours at or call 01529 308839.

What happens if my delivery is delayed?

If, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to deliver on the confirmed delivery date, we’ll contact you as soon as possible to arrange an alternative date. We cannot accept liability for any costs due to delayed delivery (eg cost of labour). Sometimes your delivery may need to be re-palletised to transport it more easily. That might cause an unscheduled delay to your delivery. We'll try our best to get your order to you quickly, but please be aware, the decision to re-palletise is only done to ensure goods and people stay safe.

A failed delivery can be expensive!

Please make sure we can contact you by phone on the day of delivery. If no one is on site/available to accept delivery or we can't deliver, you may be charged for additional costs for storage and related delivery costs. (More about that in our Terms and Conditions). If you cancel the order on the day of delivery, a return charge will be made.

    Can we deliver to you?

Please read the following carefully to see if your address is suitable for delivery.

    Large delivery vehicles

Our contractors use large articulated lorries to deliver goods. Please make sure this size of vehicle can access your chosen delivery location. You will be charged for costs (see T & C) if the driver cannot gain access.

    Need a smaller delivery vehicle?

You can request a smaller 7.5 tonne delivery vehicle when you make your order, but as there are a limited number of these, you may have to wait longer for your goods.

    Obstruction-free access

Please make sure that the road to your chosen delivery address has no weight restrictions. Arrange for any parked cars or any other obstructions to be moved. Check the route is free from low hanging branches which might prevent the delivery vehicle reaching you.

    Kerbside delivery

Standard delivery is kerbside. Drivers will place goods as near to the property as possible. Offloading on a property or driveway is at their discretion. If the driver considers the access unsafe or unsuitable for whatever reason they can refuse to unload, and will leave goods as near as possible to the delivery address.

    Flat ground for off-loading

The driver uses a tail-lift offload and manual pallet truck to move the goods off the vehicle and onto the ground. The pallet truck needs a flat, level and solid surface which is free from grass or gravel. It cannot move over uneven ground, or be controlled on slopes.

    Heavy goods

Bulk bags weigh approximately 875kgs or just under a tonne, and a pack of paving slabs weighs typically 1000kgs. Our contract delivery drivers will do their best to position goods where you want them, but the size and weight of materials makes this tricky, and impossible over rough ground.

    Hints and Tips

Will there possibly be a colour variation in my paving? With Natural Stone Paving, there is a possibility that there is a slight colour variant due to the Natural Products. We suggest ordering a sample of any paving product you like before ordering to ensure the colour is correct. With Manufactured Paving, there may also be a slight colour variation due to the Manufacturing Process. In this situation, we suggest making sure that have enough paving for you area to limit colour variations between Manufacturing Processes. Also if you do find a small colour variation, please wash your paving to ensure excess dust is removed.

Can I lay paving in the rain? Yes. With the Weatherpoint 365 Jointing Compound, you can not only lay paving in the rain, but you can do jointing in the rain, too. Just make sure your foundations do not become too wet or your paving surface could be affected.

How deep should the foundations be? Foundations for garden pavers need to be at least 150mm deep. If you are putting a patio or pavers next to your house, the surface of your patio must also be 150mm below the damp proof course of the house. The depth of driveway foundations depends entirely on the total weight that will be on the driveway at any one time.

What weight can the pavers/slabs take? As a rule of thumb, pavers under 50mm thickness will NOT be suitable for use in a driveway as there is not enough stone to cope with the weight of a vehicle. Call us on 01529 308839 and we will advise a suitable paver thickness for your driveway.

Is the foundation depth dependent on the carrying weight? Yes, if you are laying a driveway you will need considerably deeper foundations than if you are laying a patio. So, for instance, garden patio foundations are around 150mm deep. A driveway for around four tonnes of vehicle will need around 300mm of foundations. But call us on 01529 308839 for an accurate calculation.

How much paving do I need? There is a handy Paving Calculator available on each product, so the hard work is done for you. All you need to know is the area you want to cover. You should also allow for wastage – so you can ensure you still have enough slabs or blocks available to complete your paving project if you drop one, or make a mistake when cutting.

How easy is it to lay the patio myself? Laying a patio is fairly straightforward if you plan ahead. Take a look at our Hints & Tips page on Laying a Patio which should give you a few good pointers. Any more queries? Give us a call on 01529 308839.

How far in advance do I need to place my order? Turnbull aims to deliver pretty swiftly - within 4 to 6 working days of your order. However, some products’ availability may be different, so do call our team to check on 01529 308839.

Can I get jointing compounds coloured to match the slabs? Yes, Weatherpoint 365 is available in three colours; Buff, Stone Grey and Black. One of these should match your paving slabs closely or provide a nice contrast.

Will the colour of my paving slabs fade over time? Concrete pavers and natural stone will both fade slightly over time due to sunlight and weathering. Artificially coloured concrete pavers will fade more - and more quickly - than natural pavers. If you are concerned about fading, we recommend buying Vitrified paving (link here to products) which will fade less over a long period of time. Colour differences are also apparent across different batches of product, so it makes sense to order as much as you need at the beginning of your project.

Will anything stain the pavers/slabs, for instance fat and oil? Yes, some household and DIY products will stain your paving slabs. If you spill any fat or oil from a barbecue, for instance, it will soak into the paving stones and create areas of discolouration. The quicker you clean a spillage the more likely it is that it will not make a permanent mark. Avoid using strong or undiluted acids directly on the pavers/slabs, as this will cause discolouration and possibly long- term damage to the pavers. For further information on any specific stains, call our helpful team on 01529 308839.

I have bought a Project Pack of Garden Paving. Is there a set pattern for laying the paving?  No. Each Garden Paving and Driveway Paving Pack has a few suggestions of the laying patterns to use, but do give us a call on 01529 308839 and we’ll gladly help you find the best design for your project. Marshalls provide some suggestions .
